As part of the course, “Agriculture, Food and Environment”, Prof. Margaritis Karatzas delivered an insightful presentation on beekeeping, offering our 1st grade students and the delegation from the French Maritime Vocational High School Lycée Professionnel Léon de Lépervanche, (who were visiting us), a unique opportunity to explore this important aspect of agricultural production. The students had the chance to observe bee feeding and the functioning of a beehive, while Mr. Karatzas explained how bee colonies contribute to pollination and the production of natural products, such as honey and pollen.
This presentation highlighted the connection between nature, agriculture and the environment, encouraging students to better understand sustainable food production and the need to prioritize the protection of ecosystems.
