SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

On October 9th, our school, in collaboration with “HELMEPA,” organized a volunteer beach cleanup at Karfas Beach,  in Chios. This initiative provided students with a unique opportunity to cultivate environmental awareness and foster ecological sensitivity.  Through hands-on participation, they experienced the importance of protecting the environment in a practical and meaningful way.

This action also reinforced the ecological responsibility and sustainability message that students are encouraged to embrace and promote as part of the CCC program. The event emphasized the value of taking tangible steps toward environmental preservation and sustainability.

On December 17th and 18th, representatives from HELMEPA provided an informational session for the students regarding the “Chios Climate Chance” initiative. This program is implemented by HELMEPA with financial support from the Publi Benefit Foundations “Maria Tsakos” and “Ioannis S. Latsis.”

Through lectures, presentations, and interactive activities, our students – ambassadors of ecological awareness in their daily lives – were introduced to the contemporary challenges facing our planet and were sensitized to environmental protection issues.

Following this, they received training on the digital tool Chios Climate Chance. HELMEPA’s initiative inspired students to take an active role in preserving our natural heritage and become advocates for sustainability.

On November 31st, Police Officer Mr. Michalis Floradis of the Chios Traffic Police Department, delivered an impactful and educational presentation to the students, focusing on road safety and accident prevention. Using real-life scenarios, compelling examples, and practical advice, he emphasized the critical importance of vigilance on the road, the use of protective gear such as helmets and seat belts and responsible behavior for both pedestrians and drivers. This initiative, not only aimed to raise awareness about the risks associated with traffic, but also sought to instill a lifelong sense of responsibility and accountability in students, fostering a culture of safety and contributing to the reduction of traffic accidents on the island.
