On January 22nd, in an atmosphere of respect and cultural inspiration, students and teachers from our School and the Academy attended the commemorative music event organized by the “Maria Tsakos” Foundation at the “Homerion” Cultural Center of Chios, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis.
The event, entitled “The Religious Music of Mikis Theodorakis,” highlighted an exceptionally important aspect of his work. Mr. Georgios Anomeritis, Vice President of the Foundation, presented a lecture analyzing ecclesiastical music within the composer’s overall oeuvre. A concert by the “Chios Lyrika” choir, under the direction of conductor Mrs. Angela Tsimpirlou followed, offering the audience a meaningful experience of musical education and historical remembrance.
