To mark 50 years since MARPOL was adopted, the IMO World Maritime theme for 2023 was declared as, “MARPOL at 50: Our commitment goes on”.  Celebrating the occasion, on September 28th our Foundation co-organized a hybrid event in cooperation with the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA). The event was well attended with more than 130 online participants.  Seafarers of all nationalities and representatives of other shipping related International Organizations attended online. Additionally, students from the Shipping Department of the University of the Aegean, apprentice officers and engineers from the Merchant Marine Academies of Chios and Oinousses, students from our Lyceum “T.E.E.N.S”, Nautical Schools of Chios and “Maria’s Home” attended personally, to one of our most successful live interactions among participants.
