With deepest sorrow we express our profound sympathy to the family of Capt. Alkiviadis Kappas on his passing on 4th October 2024. He was instrumental in building the Greek Orthodox church and St. Nicholas Foundation. He spent many years representing the Tsakos Group in Ghana and played an important role for the smooth operations of the shipping activities of the Group. A number of Tsakos vessels were successfully drydocked at Tema Shipyard under his supervision. Many Ghanaian crew owe their career to his guidance and expertise and now hold responsible maritime positions. A mass was held by His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra at the Holy Metropolis of Accra and condolences were received on behalf of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II. An annual University scholarship is being offered by the family of late Capt Kappas.
