On September 12th, the inauguration of a new department took place. This new section complements the existing Schools of Deck and Engine Officers within our Academy and marks the establishment of the first department of its kind in Greece to train Officers with this specialization.

The inauguration comes as a continuation of the vision of Capt. P. N. Tsakos to attract and educate competent Officers who will meet the needs of the modern fleet. The creation of this new department is not only a new milestone for the T.E.E.N.S. Academy, but also marks a historic moment for maritime education in Greece. It lays the foundation for a dynamic educational institution that will prepare highly specialized officers in ship electrical and electronic systems, ready to serve the fleet of the future with excellence.

During the award ceremony, our top-performing first-year cadets of the Merchant Marine Academy were honored and the excelling cadet of the Deck Officers Department, Alexandros Apsilidis, was appointed as Head of the Cadets of the Academy. After receiving the Academy’s flag from the Director, Cpt Kostas Mennis, he pledged to serve as a model of learning and conduct for all fellow cadets.
