On October 14th and 15th, Ms. Ioanna Berbili and Ms. Kleopatra Rigaki, staff members of the Hellenic Maritime Museum, visited various primary schools in Chios to present the educational book, “The Paths of the Sea”, a publication funded by our Foundation. Through specially designed interactive presentations, the students were introduced to our maritime heritage, explored human sea-related activities – from the past to the present day – and learned about the evolution of ships, navigation, and maritime professions. Each participating school received 30 copies of the book, while discussions were held with principals and teachers on ways to incorporate its contents into their educational program.

As one of the main pillars of our initiatives is the enhancement of education, our Foundation sponsored the purchase of the book “Towards the Sea” by the author Ms. Danai Bezantakou, to be circulated to the Primary Schools in Chios. This will give the young students of the island the opportunity to better understand the maritime profession, to learn about the various types of ships and how they operate, as well as, the diverse professions available related to the sea.

On October 18th, we had the pleasure to welcome students from the 6th Elementary School of Chios. With this opportunity, our guests were briefed on the vision and mission of our Foundation and our overall activities.
