On December 10th, students of the B’ Class participated in the educational program of the National Technical University of Athens, ‘Preservation of the Karnagia (Shipyard) – Safeguarding Wooden Shipbuilding’, a journey of knowledge where tradition meets technology and modern naval science.
Through presentations by specialized speakers, students were introduced to the contemporary challenges of the wooden shipbuilding profession, as well as the possibilities of preserving and imparting this valuable knowledge to younger generations. The program offered a unique opportunity for alternative career paths, presenting skills and professions that combine prospects, creativity with a strong social and cultural impact.
The Karnagia (Boatyards) and the art of wooden shipbuilding emerged as a living and dynamic part of Greek history and maritime heritage, reminding us that tradition can serve as a bridge to the future.
